What exactly do we do? Let me explain……
BALANCE Veterinary Rehabilitation Services is a business devoted to helping companion pets move better! Our practice is dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of the animal’s musculoskeletal system which includes the legs, spine and the related interconnections such as the joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, nerves and spinal cord as well which directs the movements.
That’s a lot!
It sure is. As you understand movement and ALL of its components, it becomes a concept of interdisciplinary connections. Thus, mind*body*paws* indicating we incorporate behavior tactics (ie. mind) with exercise movements that affect the body and paws.
We are healthiest when our mental and physical health are working together in coordination, it is the same for our pet companions.
Our practice is limited to dogs and cats. Our goal is to help diagnose, and treat any individual who may have trouble walking for any variety of reasons. We commonly see patients that fit in the following categories
- Geriatric animals with osteoarthritis
- Animals with neurologic conditions such as Intervertebral Disc Disease, Degenerative Myelopathy, strokes (FCE), polyneuropathies, and undefined deficits
- Athletic pets with traumatic injuries
- CCL ruptures
- Hip Dysplasia
- Swimmer puppies
- Elbow Dysplasia
- Spine issues
Part of our mission is to help owners understand the disease process and set goals and expectations for recovery. In some cases it may be difficult to have a definitive diagnosis that can require expensive tests such as MRI or CT scans but we can still help narrow it down based on the physical exam and history. We can then make reasonable choices on therapy that may really help your pet recover
